Gain greater confidence in your ability to compose and render the human form. This course provides an in-depth study of how to draw the human figure from sticks to form. This is a two-day workshop, you will focus on basic proportions and proper construction of the human form as well as light and shadow, contour, line, and composition. In-class drawing exercises will be enhanced by demonstrations of how to simplify and assemble the more complex areas of the body. Learn how to approach drawing, such as capturing gesture, measuring proportion, and understanding and clearly drawing the perspective within a human form. All references and workbooks will be provided.

In this two-day workshop, you will learn the simple and effective approach to drawing the portrait from any angle. On the first day, you will study the anatomy of the eyes, nose, lips, and ears. The information is presented in a way using references to young and older faces. On the following day, you will be working on how to take a portrait from start to finish. You’ll also learn skin tones, and shades to complete your final work. All the references and workbooks are provided by the instructor.

This is a class for the young artist. The class is focusing of all aspects of art. We will train the eye how to see as it relates to direction of line, curves, form, shape, contrast, etc. We will learn how to look at something and draw it exactly. All projects will be finished in pencil, color pencil, or watercolor. Once the basics are learned, we will focus on design and composition. Students are to bring pictures they want to draw. All art supplies for this class are provided.

Scratchboard is a fine art form that uses a surface covered with white clay and then a layer of black India ink. In class we will explore the different tools to remove the black ink to bring your image come to life. The student may choose to keep their boards black and white or proceed to colorize them. In class we will explore the different mediums used to colorize your scratchboards.

Artists quality colored pencils are versatile and easy to master, an ideal medium for fine art! Learn the basics, and apply them to a project or get guidance on developing your own original subjects. We’ll discuss pencil brands and surfaces, color mixing and creating effects. Bring our own pencils, or if you want to try before you buy, assorted pencil sets will be available for use in class.
