All media including: pastel, oil, watercolor and acrylic. During a 4-week session, the student will create 4 small artworks, one per week, in the medium of their choice. Exploring more in-depth of a single subject matter, the student will learn how to mix a new color palette each week. They will get a deeper understanding of how variations of elements such as seasonal changes, dramatic lighting, color of the objects, etc. effect color mixing and placement throughout an artwork. Class size limited to 14 for more instructor feedback.

Arts & Healing Program

Arts & Healing Program focuses on adults who are experiencing mild to moderate dementia/memory loss. The Arts have been shown to have a profound and lasting impact on people of all ages, economic and cultural backgrounds. Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in learning, cognitive ability, problem-solving, critical thinking, and motor and verbal skills. The creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and achieve insight.

We will explore abstract painting using cold wax medium, tube oils, pigment sticks and layering with a variety of implements. Learn new ways to create textures, color fields and mark making while focusing on developing a personal vocabulary and the medium’s experimental nature. Beeswax Collage, Elena De La Ville

Learn how to create a collage entirely with beeswax – no other glues or adhesives are necessary! You’ll discover and practice techniques including layering, transparency and wax stamping. Some supplies will be provided for basic collages, but feel free to bring your art box (with scissors, glue & brushes), your favorite images and ephemera as well to personalize your art. Any images you bring should be on regular computer paper – the thinner the better. Reduce, enlarge photos to have choice in scale but glossy photos won’t work well with this process. Fabric, stencils and small 3-D objects work great! Supply fee payable to the instructor of $12.

The Art Of Silk Painting, Linda Tilson

Discover the beauty of painting on silk while creating an original work of art that can be framed or made into a wall hanging or cushion. Learn various techniques including design transfer, using resists, salt and alcohol. Fabric will be stretched on a 16”x20” stretcher that will be provided for you. Bring your own design to work from or create one in class using samples and designs that are provided for inspiration. All levels welcome. Linda has extensive experience in silk painting and gives individual attention throughout the class, encouraging individual creativity. Supply fee $15 payable to the instructor the day of class.

The Art Of Marbling, Linda Tilson

Marbling is the ancient magical technique of creating exquisite design motifs by floating and manipulating paints on thickened water then transferring them to pre-treated paper, fabric or other items. Art papers can be framed or used for art books, photo mats, greeting cards or in collages. Instructor has extensive experience marbling fabrics and papers and provides individual assistance throughout the class. Each student will have their own marbling tray to use. This is fun and fascinating and you will leave with multiple unique pieces including a fun visor! Suppy fee $25 payable to the instructor the day of class.
