September 14, 2023 Bishop Parker Foundation continues its legacy of supporting the arts with a $500,000 Challenge Grant to ArtCenter Manatee that will match all new donations to the capital campaign, dollar for dollar, up to $500,000.
This Challenge Grant is in addition to the $1,000,000 gift they have already pledged.
The Bishop Parker Foundation is committed to supporting organizations and non-profits in Manatee County that are working to build a better community. ArtCenter Manatee, founded in 1937, has received support from Bishop Parker for its children’s education programs for a number of years and is most grateful for this Challenge Grant designed to encourage donations from the community.
Edward E. and Lillian H. Bishop and Mary E. Parker dedicated their financial resources and love for the arts, education, science and animals for many years and their Foundation continues to carry out their mission.

We look forward to serving community needs with a facility that will meet the growing need for visual arts classes, exhibits and other arts programming. The arts are a powerful tool to help communities grow and individuals connect with each other across all boundaries.
ArtCenter Manatee broke ground on September 14, 2023. Construction is scheduled to begin before month’s end, with completion estimated for the end of 2024 The new 28,000 SF, 2-story facility which will be renamed the Herrig Center for the Arts.
