You are an artist, you may just not know it yet. This class is a great opportunity to get your hands dirty and to learn the basics of hand building ceramic objects! Students will learn about the properties of clay and how to create both decorative and useful objects. Along the way we will discuss the many different methods of hand building such as pinch pots, coil built pots, soft and stiff slabs and the variety of tools and techniques used in creating and decorating these forms. Projects will be student led. Wheel access open to those with experience.

Explore and push your creativity with clay! This class will cover the basic and more intermediate skills of handbuilding. Possibilities range from functional pots to sculptures. Handbuilding technique demonstrations include slab construction, coil building, pinching and extrusion. Applied textures, colored slips, and glaze application surface decoration techniques are also demonstrated. Projects will be student-led with plenty of inspiration for any who need it. Wheel access open to those with experience. All levels welcome.

Discover the art and craft of jewelry making in this introductory course designed for beginners. Over the course of this program you will learn essential techniques to forge, pierce, form, solder, and polish your own unique pieces of jewelry. You will gain an understanding of metal and be able to manipulate its properties to suit your creations. Once your piece has taken shape you will learn various methods to polish and finish your creations, giving them a professional look. Emphasis will be placed on safety and efficient practices. Closed toe shoes are required. Denim and cotton clothing are highly recommended. New projects will be made during each series of classes. Materials such as metal and saw blades will be purchased during class. Supply fees are paid before each project. If you attend the evening class please bring a check. Please print your supply list found online. These items are needed for the first class.

From Clay to Creation: Beginners Wheel Throwing, Kaidi Grabiak

Discover the art of pottery wheel throwing in this beginners course. This class will serve as an introduction to wheel thrown ceramics, learning the fundamentals: throwing, trimming and glazing. No need to worry about being perfect – this is a causal and fun environment where you can let your creativity flow. Come join us and get your hands dirty while making one-of-a-kind pottery! No previous experience is required. Please bring your own tools or purchase from the gift shop. Class fee includes 25# of clay, in studio glazing and firing.

This is a class for the young artist. The class is focusing on all aspects of art. We will train the eye how to see as it related to direction of line, curves, form, shape, contrast, etc. We will learn how to look at something and draw it exactly. All projects will be finished in pencil, color pencil, or watercolor. Once the basics are learned, we will focus on design and composition. Students are to bring pictures they want to draw. All art supplies for this class are provided.
