Want to re-use your scrap silver or gold? If so, this workshop is for you. Save money and be kind to the environment. Working with scraps can be a good way to expand your skill set. Students will learn how to recycle material to use again for future jewelry projects. We will melt scrap to make sheet, different gauges and shapes of wire. We will explore the many ways to convert your scrap into rings, bangles, accents and textured pieces.

This class will take you beyond making a simple band. We will make a variety of rings shanks using sheet metal or wire. The ring shank is the portion of the ring that fits around the finger. You can focus on the many styles that can be made with basic materials and add your stone settings later or bring in prepared settings with stones if you wish to leave with your rings completed. This class is geared towards students with basic metal working skills. Learn to cut out interior shapes to create graphic elements in silver sheet metal. We will talk about what to look for when designing a piece of jewelry with pierced sections. I will cover how to easily clean up the interior shapes for a clean crisp look. I will also be discussing and demonstrating how to bevel your jewelry for an elevated look. Both hand files and flexible shaft tools will be explained and utilized. We will be creating a pendant during this workshop. Please note that this class has a 20 minute lunch break. As always closed toe shoes are required for safety.
