No experience required! If you’ve never thrown on a wheel or if it’s been a while, come and join us to learn, discover & explore your skills. Each week will feature new forms and/or techniques, including glazing. Come as you are– or bring a friend. Couples or office team-building groups welcome. Open yourself to the joys of creating and developing new strengths. Please bring pottery tools or plan to purchase them from the gift shop. Class fee includes 25# of stoneware clay, as well as bisque and glaze firing.

You will also learn how to rectify mistakes and infuse vitality into your pieces. Using your own photographs as inspiration, you will be able to create personalized works of art. Paint these vibrant yellow and purple orchids with a soft foliage background using a limited palette. Learn the techniques to achieve delicate flower petals with shaded colors. The background will be realized using two washes with masked details and negative painting to result in this soft foliage effect. Let’s get out our bright watercolors and paint the beauty of Florida’s iconic Sea Grape, a plant that thrives in its coastal home and bears clusters of vibrant, multicolored fruit and leaves. While not actual grapes, these lookalikes are more colorful and varied when ripe.

In this class we’ll create a detailed watercolor painting of an iconic hummingbird set against a soft mottled background. Learn techniques to achieve delicate feathers with lifting and shading. Additionally, an application of iridescent powders over the watercolor to further enhance the effect of the hummingbird will be demonstrated.

Are you a beginner that has been playing and needs to know where to go next. An intermediate that has been painting but wants to expand and explore or an experienced acrylic painter looking to expand the portfolio, or create a mind blowing series? That’s my role, to move each individual forward in their painting endeavors. I try to build a creative environment where artists are inspired by each member of the class. Each morning will start with a class review of their current work as I critique and provide helpful comments. My students have an open mind and look forward to new and exciting painting avenues. I hope you will join us!
