Add some color to your jewelry and explore the possibilities of torch-fired enamels. In this fast paced workshop students will have an introduction to the techniques involved in applying fine powdered glass to copper. Copper shapes will be used to create pendants and earrings. Apply amazing colors; contrasting patterns and textures to add a bold new look to your work. This is a fast easy way to add color to you jewelry.

Create your own micro mosaic jewelry! Choose your favorite colors and start designing. A tempting array of materials will be provided including many types of glass: filati, milliflorie, rods, stained glass, Italian smalti and numerous other embellishments. We will discuss how to design, cut and use materials and to securely place the small pieces. You will make either a square or round silver plated pendant or earrings. All tools will be provided. Supply fee, payable to the instructor, is $20 for each piece you make. Come have fun and leave with a finished piece to wear or gift.

Since the earliest days of humanity. It is a fun technique you can use to create duplicate items in a short time. You can cast items from nature or bring in jewelry you have previously created to produce replicas. After a few steps, your castings will be ready to be used in your own jewelry designs or small sculptures. Bring in your silver scrap to recycle. There is a $20 supply fee for this class payable to the instructor. Please print your supply list. For safety, open toe shoes are not permitted.

What to do with all those attachments and more! How you finish your jewelry is a very important and personal decision for the final design. With so many decisions, tools and polishing compounds it can be overwhelming. In this workshop, we will discuss firescale and how to remove it. I will cover polishing, clean up and where to start. Surface treatments, drilling into stone, texture, signing your name, patina, matte finish, burnishing and more will be introduced.

Intro To Copper Enameling, Liana Martin

Enameling is the art of fusing powdered glass to metal at high temperatures, using a kiln. In this course you will learn to: prepare copper for enameling, make several sample pieces using a range of techniques, explore the use of opaque and transparent enamels, and use decorative inclusions – frit, glass threads, millefiori and copper wire. Supply fee of $40 payable to instructor.
