Are you unsure of how to create an abstract painting? Then try combining abstraction with realism! You will learn how to layer masking tape and paint to create unexpected shapes and textures. You will add realistic objects as well during the process. These techniques will loosen you up to explore color and freedom of abstraction and then use structure and focus by incorporating realism. Class is limited to 14 students.

Monet’s approach to impressionistic landscapes? You will learn how to understand color relationships and broken color. You will use MORE paint with luscious brushes strokes. And then you will apply these techniques to your own photo landscape references. Class is limited to 14 students.

For the 1st and 2nd classes, you will use images provided by the instructor of row and old fishing boats. From these images you will create new compositions and palettes to make the resulting painting your own (and not just another photographic copy). The 3rd and 4th classes will be your opportunity to create a new composition based upon the inspiration from your photo references. Class is limited to 14 students.
