Fine line markers are not just for tight details they’re great for quick sketches. Let go of perfectionism and go with the flow of ink! Add color with a few colored pencils, watercolor pencils, pastels or paints for fresh and lively artwork or filling a journal. Forget erasing and fixing, just loosen up and have fun drawing! Each student gets a fine line marker. (Weather permitting, we’ll draw outside too.)

Explore the many ways these versatile pencils can be used as wet or dry, alone or for mixed media. Great for artists’ journals and plein air, for sketching or serious artwork, they even mix well with pen and ink and traditional watercolor. Some paper is provided; bring your own pencils or borrow class sets.

Underpainting with a single color in water-soluble oil paints makes a great base for color drawing. Quickly establish values and unify the color scheme. Arches oil paper works with both oil paint and colored pencils. Paint and paper provided, brushes and pencil sets available for use in class. Choice of subject with color reference. If you bring your own reference, be sure it has strong values and bring a black and white photocopy (8.5×11’).
