Learn to draw portraits which convey depth and volume. Drawing from life is essential to understanding the structure of the human head. Acquiring spatial knowledge will change how you approach any drawing. Building from simple shapes and working forward, we naturally arrive at correct proportion and likeness without a frustrating struggle. Most sessions will feature extended model poses. Topics include: materials, technique, proportion, line, tone, lighting, foreshortening, and composition. Classes include presentations/demos. Includes model fee.

Learn more of the basics along with more advanced techniques. Watercolor is one of the most enduring art forms in our culture and is the easiest way of expressing yourself through art. Watercolor has a long history of teaching great painters their first lessons in subjects ranging from proper technique to design principles. We will continue to learn how to mix and blend colors from a limited palette, work with textures using wax, and varnish your work with ”wax” The instructor will do a demonstration to show how to fix work, or bring dull work to life. We will work from photographs, preferably your own. Fun!

In this Acrylic Painting course, you will learn how to prep your canvas, and how to transfer your own reference from your own photos or the two free websites such as Pixabay or Unsplash. Once your drawing is on the canvas, the FUN begins with painting in acrylics. This course is in-depth and it’s also a FUN two hours of studio time with other acrylic lovers. This intermediate/advanced art class continues the exploration of acrylic media and techniques with a more in-depth study of acrylics, aesthetics, and medium. Students will have the ability to talk about their work and the work of others in classroom critiques that we do at the start of each class. Please note, this is not for beginners.
