Sarasota Sumi-e Society Member Show
June 2-June 25
The Sarasota Chapter was established July 17, 1990 as a non-profit organization to promote the art of East Asian Brush Painting. The Chapter was formed under the authority of the Sumi-e Society of America, Inc.
The term Sumi-e means “ink painting” in Japanese. The society uses the term Sumi-e to embrace the entire field of East Asian Brush painting. Members often demonstrate or teach brush painting techniques to various local groups and schools. Our membership includes painters, non painters, professional artists, calligraphers, teachers and students.
Our emphasis is on education, appreciation and sharing through monthly meetings, newsletters, workshops and exhibits.
