Materials: Journal 9 x 12 minimum size. Many important points will be given during class for note taking and future reference. Quick in-class assignments will also be noted here. (You can use a sketch pad as a journal). Plastic cloth to cover table for easy clean-up. Hard Pastels NuPastel OR Soft Pastels Half Stick sets which are made by various companies such as: - Loew Cornell sets - Rembrandt - Sennelier (these come in full sticks) - Unison (these come in short full sticks) Pastel paper 1 pad 11 x 14 equivalent (prefer larger) OR Papers: 1 sheet Rives BFK, cream, 22" x 30" quartered 1 sheet Mi-Teintes, 19" x 27" cut into two measuring 13.5" x 19" Example: dark colored (like tobacco or ivy) medium colored (like flannel grey or steel grey) light colored (like cream or pearl). Choose a color you prefer in a medium or dark range. A board to tape your pastel paper to for easy transportation to and from class. This can be foam board OR cardboard (with a couple of sheets of paper in between to smooth out the surface) OR ¼" plexiglass Brush 1 small round OR flat brush (helps remove pastels from paper) Value Finder Kneaded Eraser Tortillons Various sizes (light-grey paper stumps) Cotton swabs Tape Perfer the blue which will not peal off the paper as easily when you remove it Aluminum foil To place under your easel edge to catch the dust. Easel For support if you wish to draw upright on table top surface which is safer way to use pastels. This is highly recommended.
