Learn to create stunning realistic watercolor portraits and figurative paintings from photographic reference. Learn to paint translucent flesh tones, gradient background washes, detailed facial features and controlled applications of paint. Explore proper techniques for stretching your paper to achieve a pristine surface, while also learning tips and tricks of modern watercolor practices. We will work through monotone washes, water manipulation, work wet into wet, and explore opaque watercolor modeling. You will also learn to build form and dimension into your watercolor with using Jenny’s dry-brush technique. In addition, this course of instruction will also include how to take good photographic reference shots, lighting and posing your subject by learning elements of dynamic lighting, composition and mood in order to create your own masterpiece!
