Monthly Dialogic Critique with Kerry Didday

 Kerry Didday
Tuesdays 6:00 – 7:30pm

An open critique to help you understand yourself as an artist. The goal of the critiques will include questioning with the goals of increasing understanding, generating new ideas, breaking boundaries, exploring meaning, and getting unstuck. We will explore your individual style of painting, descriptive, narrative, emotive, utilitarian, or decorative. We will also discover in each painting what you notice first and why, what we want to see more of, what is unexpected, what is confusing, what does the work provoke.

Kerry Didday is an award-winning Florida-based artist. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art and Architecture. He has been active in the arts for many years, both corporate and fine art and teaches in St. Petersburg, Fl. Color, Pattern & Texture In Acrylic Paintings

Nancy Stark I-A
Friday & Saturday 9:00-4:00, Sunday 9:00-12:00

This class focuses on the interaction between the artist and what is happening on the painting surface. We will work on gessoed surfaces, both paper and board. With acrylic paint and mark making tools we will explore the texture produced by the gesso and incorporate it in our subjects. We will discuss options for color combinations and layering of color. We will add new life to everyday subjects by exaggerating and/or changing color. We will look for patterns with repetition and variety in our subjects. Nancy will demo each day, discuss reasons for her choices and interact individually with each class participant.

We will do all this and more in a 2 1/5 day workshop with Nancy Stark, an award-winning Virginia artist who holds signature membership in AWS, NWS, RMNW, SDWS, SW, BWS, MoWS and VWS.
