In this class you will learn the fundamental skills required for jewelry making. Skills such as sawing, soldering, texturing, and polishing will be the focus. Students will also be introduced to studio safety and proper use of the tools and equipment. Students are encouraged to take more than one session of the course to refine their skills. Returning students will use previously learned skills to expand on new projects. Materials are purchased at each class and the supply fee is paid weekly.

Are you looking for more studio time? This class is designed to provide studio time to finish a piece of jewelry, work on improving your existing skills, or learning something new with an instructor to assist you. Students will work on new projects or unfinished pieces of their choice. Students must have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Jewelry Making or Beginning Jewelry Class at Art Center Manatee. Materials are purchased at each class and the supply fee is paid weekly.

This class if for students that have the basic skills of sawing, filing and torch soldering taught in the Fundamentals of Jewelry Making Class. If you are ready to strengthen those skills and apply them to projects like stone setting, metal forming, cold connections, hinges, and adding texture and dimension, then this is the class for you. Materials are purchased at each class and the supply fee is paid weekly.

Explore all types of metal clay while focusing on your jewelry designs. Find out which metals can be fired together and which can’t. Learn about shrinkage and how to evaluate each kind of clay for your jewelry design purposes. Each class will focus on a different metal and introduce techniques to make unique mixed metal jewelry. Hadar’s Clays will be featured, but any brand of metal clay can be used.

If you already enjoy jewelry making (or even if you have no experience) and want to explore adding a new dimension of line and color to your work, this class is for you. Basic safety and techniques will be expained. You will learn to create a design of your own using the “line” of cloisonne wire with transparent and opaque enamels. All levels welcome. A $25 materials fee will be collected by the on the first day of class.
