The “Pen Women” are members of the National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW). Founded in 1897, it is the oldest multi-discipline arts organization for women in the United States.  The Mission of NLAPW is to “support and promote creative excellence and professional standards among women in the arts”.

Membership includes professional artists, as well as writers, poets, composers, choreographers and arrangers. Members are juried into the organization.

There are over 100 Branches of Pen Women across the country dedicated to serving our communities through the arts. The NLAPW headquarters is located in the Pen Arts Building, built in 1895, in the Dupont Historical District in Washington, DC.

This exhibit features work by our Art members from Manatee and Sarasota counties. The works are in acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, photography, ceramics and sculpture.

The art exhibit opening reception on October 6, 2016 will also feature book signings by the Letters members. For further information: www.sarasotapenwomen.com or www.nlapw.org
