Studio Oils - Ron Sanders
Supply List Oil Painting Students may pursue any subject in any style that they wish, from grisaille with glaze and scumble, to color over color indirect painting, to alla prima direct painting. Students will work from still life setups or photographic reference of their choosing. This class is open in structure, allowing each student to chart their own course of study with guidance and advice from the instructor. Nonetheless, the same palette is recommended for most students: Cad Yellow Pale or Lemon, Cad Yellow Medium, Cad Orange, Cad Red Light, Quinacridone Rose (aka Permanent Rose), Cobalt Violet, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Viridian Green, Burnt Umber and White. It is highly recommended that students have these colors in order to follow the instructor's color theory and color mixing advice. However, other colors may be added to this palette as well. For students wishing to pursue the grisaille method, they may also wish to include Ivory Black, Mars Violet, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Vermilion Red, Naples Yellow (lead antimoniate), and Venetian Red or Indian Red. |
