A demonstration will be given in each class with the participants executing them before moving onto the next technique. The student can then decide the best methods that suit them when creating an image. Personalize instruction will be given to help focus each student’s needs. All levels of skill welcomed. Materials: Journal 9 x 12 minimum size (sketch pad will do as well). Many important points will be given during class for note taking and future reference. Quick in-class assignments will also be noted here, composition, color sampling, photos, other reference materials, etc. Acrylics Basic Palette: (Golden or Liquitex), prefer paint tubes over small bottles Titanium White - Cad. Red Light Ultramarine Blue - Cad. Red Medium Cobalt Blue - Medium Violet Cerulean Blue Deep - Cad. Orange Yellow Ochre - Quinacridone Crimson (Alizarin Crimson) Raw Umber - Cad. Yellow Primrose (Lemon Yellow) Burnt Sienna - Cad. Yellow Medium Viridian Green - Sap Green Hue For the first class bring what you have so I can review to see what else you need in paints (so you do not need to buy out the store). Value Finder ($2.29 at Keeton’s) Brushes 1 brush within each range with long handles, all bristle (or equivalent) Flat: Large 10 or 12 Filbert: Medium 4 or 6 or 8 Medium 4 or 6 Small 1 or 2 Round: Medium 6 or 8 Small 1 or 2 or 3 Medium Regular Matte Gel, 1 small jar Retarder OR Acrylic Flo Release, 1 small jar Gesso 1 16 oz. size Palette Knife Triangular in shape, about 1 1/2” long (no long flat knives) Palette (large) Disposable paper sheets 12x16 equivalent OR larger Supports 2 Stretch Canvas or masonite boards 11 x 14 size, prefer larger Pencils For those who prefer under drawing on your support or charcoals Paper towels and/or rags Plastic to put down on table tops Bring to class photographs of the subject matter of your choice as reference to paint from.
