Ages 6-10 PAINT STREAKSInstructor: Deb Gallery Tuesdays, 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Session 3: April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6 The color wheel, watercolor techniques, mixed media painting, resist painting and a variety of materials will become vehicles for self expression. 5 week session: $70 ACM members, $90 non-members THRILLILNG THURSDAYS Mixed Media 9am - 11am Thursdays, July 10, 17 & 24 $45.00 member price $55.00 nonmember price Ages 11-14 FUNDMENTALS IN CLAY Instructor: Abigail Akers Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Wheel Throwing Session 2: Mar. 26, Apr. 2, 9, 16, 23 This clay class is always fun and successful with our young adults. We work through the same basic techniques in hand building session 1 and wheel throwing session 2 as our adult classes. Design, surface, structure and glazing will be explored. 5 week session: $70 ACM members, $90 non-members HIGH SCHOOL PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT (Ages 14-18) Ron Sanders Mondays, 3 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Session 1: completed Session 2: completed Session 3: Mar. 10, 17, 24, 31, Apr. 7 This class is an opportunity for motivated high school students interested in a career in art to study with a professional artist. Students will be introduced to important fundamentals of drawing, composition, color and painting that will aid them in developing a stronger portfolio for college entrance. Session 3: Illusions of Space An examination of linear and atmospheric perspective. A proper understanding and manipulation of color, value and edges, create space, form and atmosphere. Learn how to combine these elements with the use of size, position, overlap and weight to create a believable sense of space in your artwork. Instructor Ron Sanders has worked professionally in the fields of desktop publishing and digital prepress, commercial illustration and fine art, and will be able to answer many questions for students seeking a career in the art world. Four and five year olds will explore lots of hands on art projects including drawing, painting and more. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (aftercare available at an additional cost) KidsArt Day Camp offers our elementary age children week long creative adventures into the world of visual arts in a creative, safe environment. All sessions include clay, drawing, and painting as well as projects related to each week’s theme. To ensure that your child gets the most out of the program, please arrive on time. Snacks are provided, but bring a brown bag lunch. Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - noon These classes are designed for older students who are-or may be- interested in developing their own style of visual expression. Programs will focus on a specific visual arts medium to accomplish greater understanding and more expertise in that area. $95 per week for members, $115 non-members *4 day week: $76 members, $92 non-members Session 1: Drawing June 9 - June 13 Session 2: Magic Paintbrush June 16 - June 20 Session 3: Painting on Silk June 23 - June 27 Session 4: Basic Jewelry June 30 - July 3* Session 5: Pottery: Handbuilding July 7 - July 11 Session 6: TBD July 14 - July 18 Session 7: Creative Photography July 21 - July 25 Session 8: Wheelthrown Pottery July 28 - August 1 Session 9: Jewelry Design and Creation August 4 - August 8 Important Camp Info: A $25 non-refundable deposit and a completed registration form is required at the time of registration for each week you are registering. The balance is due no later than one week before each camp. Class cancellations must be made at least 1 week before a class begins or refunds will not be granted. Enrollment is limited and spaces are filled on a “first-come-first-served” basis. ArtCenter Manatee reserves the right to cancel any session which does not meet minimum enrollment, in which case a full refund will be given. Register two or more siblings for the same week of summer camp and receive a $10 discount per child per session. ArtCenter Manatee is a not-for-profit community arts organization, and we welcome students of all creeds and ethnic origins. Scholarship funds are available.
