Juror: Patricia Turner
Mixing powdered dyes to paint on papers and silks, Patricia Anderson Turner creates unique art that addresses issues of social, cultural, and political gravity. Turner’s work has been exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally; her awards include a First Place for Contemporary Silk Art at the Verona Museum of Modern Art in Italy. Major museums and universities have purchased her work for their permanent collections. Her art has been featured in numerous publications to include a reference book on art and human rights introduced by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. This year, Turner’s work is in prestigious national social and political commentary art exhibits in Washington, D.C., Tennessee, St Louis, St Charles, MO, and Denver. Her installation, “Flight”, will be exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Tallahassee the spring and summer of 2018.
