Creative Photo Ib-i
Instructor: John Hynal
- Supply List
Thursdays, 10:00am – 12:30pm OR
Thursdays, 6:30pm - 9:00pm
Session 1: Sept. 16, 23, 30, Oct. 7, Oct. 14
This class will give you the confidence to take control of your camera! Shutter speed and f-stop relationships are the key to creative imaging and you’ll learn how to stop action and how to pan with moving subjects. Learn how to expose for fireworks, capture lightning and discover techniques of painting with light. Set the mood of your shots by controlling diffusion: learn when and why diffused backgrounds can be more effective than sharp backgrounds. Learn the creative and functional uses of filters, flash and lens control. Digital and film media will be discussed. SLR cameras w/interchangeable lenses and point and shoot cameras with adjustable controls are preferred for this class.

Creative Photo Toob-i
Instructor: John Hynal
- Supply List
Thursdays, 10:00am – 12:30pm OR
Thursdays, 6:30pm – 9:00pm
Session 1: Oct. 21, Oct. 28, Nov. 11
Field Trips: Saturday, Oct. 23 and Thursday, Nov. 4
This class expands upon elements covered in the basic class, Creative Photo, Pure & Simple and includes a more in-depth exploration into D-SLR menu choices and options. We’ll take a closer look at lighting, metering, exposure compensation, black & white options, filters and more. The field trips will take us on a Saturday morning trip (location TBA,) with emphasis on composition, fractional & close-up shooting, fi lters, reflectors and flash. A fun and unorthodox night time field trip will have you making long exposures of city streets and our model in several downtown locations while we trace, ghost and otherwise dismember her. The evening will close with a dazzling display of fireworks (a sparkler?!) and discussion on how to capture lighting. Participants must have a solid understanding of the shutter speed and f-stop relationship. A tripod is required.
